The Beiderbecke Trilogy was an extremely enjoyable series from the 1980s written by the late screenwriter Alan Plater. This box set contains all three series: The Beiderbecke Affair, The Beiderbecke Tapes and The Beiderbecke Connection. 

Two unusually normal protagonists feature in these series of detective thrillers, starring James Bolam (The Likely Lads) as Trevor, a laconic woodwork teacher who loves jazz, and divorced English teacher Jill, played by Barbara Flynn. 

The interplay between the two leads is a real joy and this is engaging, quality television.
