The Illinois Supreme Court ruled 7-0 Thursday that former Obama administration official Rahm Emanuel can run for mayor of the nation’s third-largest city, ending a three-month roller-coaster campaign to force the former White House chief of staff off the ballot to succeed outgoing Mayor Richard M. Daley.
The decision also opens the door for a first-round win on Feb. 22 by Mr. Emanuel, whose popularity has surged during the ballot dispute, according to the WSJ story by Douglas Belkin and Lauren Etter.
